Job summary

CLA is seeking an Assistant Controller for our State and Local Government CAAS Practice in Connecticut. This role supports our clients by delivering reliable accounting and advisory services, with opportunities to collaborate across teams in West Hartford and Shelton.

You will manage multiple client engagements, apply GAAP knowledge, and leverage MUNIS experience to ensure accurate financial statements while building strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Experience in Connecticut Government is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP
• MUNIS experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for the client’s accounting services team.
• Act as a consultant on accounting and finance best practices.
• Provide project management across multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.
• Attend industry events and training as an industry professional.
• Maintain knowledge of policies, directives, and current accounting standards.
