Job summary

Dyer & Dyer Volvo, a Sonic Automotive family dealership, seeks an Assistant Controller to manage the dealership’s accounting function and office workflow. The role partners with the General Manager and, under supervision, enforces policies and ensures timely, accurate financials.

Qualifications

• Accounting degree or equivalent experience.
• 5 years’ experience managing the accounting function and leading the accounting staff of an automotive dealership.
• Outstanding written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Excellent analytical, forecasting and budgeting skills.
• Experience with dealership management systems (ADP preferred).
• Strong computer skills, especially Excel and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting function and office workflow for the dealership.
• Provide support to departments to optimize revenue and control expenses.
• Maintain accurate and current accounting records and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
• Recruit, supervise and develop dealership office personnel.
• Audit balance sheets; communicate issues to Regional Controller.
• Assist operations with budgeting and forecasting.
• Ensure timely completion of financial statements and reports.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve reconciling items.
• Review schedules monthly and correct discrepancies.
