Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Drive process improvements and automation across billing, collections, and disbursements.
• Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, Operations, and Treasury to resolve escalated issues.
• Support month-end close activities for AR, AP, and accruals.

StevenDouglas has been exclusively engaged on an Assistant Controller search in Austin, Texas with a heavy emphasis on AP and AR in a shared services environment.

Reporting to the Controller, this position will lead the AR/AP Shared Services function supporting the region. The ideal candidate will exhibit the highest degree of ethics, a bias for action, and organizational aptitude via working seamlessly across teams in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment. This role requires heavy end-to-end process ownership across the full order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles, people leadership of a shared services team (offshore), and SOX control oversight for AR/AP across the region.

Position Responsibilities:

• Leading and developing the AR/AP shared services team: managing a team of analysts/specialists supporting billing, collections, cash application, vendor payments, and disbursements across the region
• Reviewing and approving AR and AP account reconciliations, and ensuring sub-ledgers tie out to the general ledger each close
• Overseeing aging analysis (AR and AP) and presenting trends, risks, and recommendations to the Controller and Finance leadership
• Establishing and maintaining SOX-compliant internal controls over AR/AP processes; serving as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors on AR/AP-related matters
• Standardizing AR/AP policies, procedures, and service-level expectations across the shared services function, including as new entities or regions are onboarded
• Driving process improvement, automation, and efficiency initiatives across billing, collections, and disbursements (e.g., evaluating new tools, workflow automation, OCR/invoice automation)
• Partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Procurement, Operations, and Treasury to resolve escalated AR/AP issues and improve upstream process quality
• Supporting month-end close activities related to AR, AP, and accruals, and reviewing related journal entries and flux analysis

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant exposure to AR/AP, order-to-cash, or procure-to-pay functions, ideally in a shared services or multi-entity environment
• Proven people-management experience, with a track record of leading and developing a team in a shared services or high-volume transactional environment
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
• Proven ability to drive process standardization and efficiency across a shared services function
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a focus on accuracy
• Interest in identifying new technologies or tools to drive efficiency
