Job summary

Community Health of Central Washington (CHCW) is seeking an Assistant Controller to join the Yakima accounting team in a full-time, Monday–Friday role. You will support payroll, AP, GL, budgeting, and internal controls while helping ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance for a growing not-for-profit healthcare organization.

The role emphasizes collaboration, integrity, and attention to detail as you assist with cost reports, audits, and grant accounting within a dynamic healthcare

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CPA preferred for the role.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional accounting experience.
• Knowledge of not-for-profit healthcare industry strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Controller with payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets and cash management.
• Assist with development, monitoring and maintaining annual budgets.
• Assist with monthly management and annual cost reports.
• Assist with internal controls documentation and accounting procedures.
• Assist with General Ledger management and chart of accounts.
• Assist with grant invoicing and financial management.
• Support external audit and tax information preparation and schedules.

CHCW is looking for a quality, ambitious, and enthusiastic Assistant Controller to join our team in Yakima. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be a key member of the accounting team and help shape the rapid growth of the Organization. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday. The incumbent performs and assists with various corporate accounting systems, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, internal controls, and grant/contracts tracking and compliance. Recommends, implements, and evaluates procedures and systems to ensure maximum efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting information and processing of financial obligations and safeguarding of corporate assets.

Job duties include:

• Assisting the Controller with the overall accounting function to include payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets and cash management.
• Assisting with the development, monitoring and maintaining of annual budgets.
• Assisting with completing monthly management reports and annual cost reports.
• Assisting the Controller with Developing, documenting, communicating, and monitoring internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Assisting with managing the General Ledger (GL) and the GL Chart of Accounts.
• Assisting with developing and maintaining costing systems.
• Assisting with ensuring timely general ledger closing to include account reconciliation and journal entry preparation.
• Assisting with invoicing and financially managing grants.
• Assisting with reviewing the work completed by other accounting team members.
• Assisting with the preparation of external audit and tax information requirements and the timely completion of schedules.
• Attending educational seminars to further understanding of changing guidelines in health care, grant accounting, GAAP, and technologies when requested.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• CPA preferred
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional accounting experience
• Knowledge of not-for profit healthcare industry strongly preferred
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
• Experience with ERP Systems
• Impeccable integrity

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
