Maschmeyer Concrete Company in West Palm Beach seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations, oversee the general ledger, inventory, and cost accounting, and support month-end close.

You will analyze variances with operations, ensure GAAP compliance, strengthen internal controls, and mentor staff while driving process improvements across the finance function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, and cost accounting.
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Monitor and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Oversee and support inventory accounting, including inventory reconciliations, valuation, adjustments, cycle counts, and physical inventories.
• Analyze standard costs and manufacturing variances, and work with Operations to investigate discrepancies.
• Support procure-to-pay accounting, resolve purchasing and inventory discrepancies, and ensure accurate month-end recording of inventory and expenses.

This role will be instrumental in supporting the Controller in overseeing accounting operations, with primary responsibility for financial reporting, general ledger accounting, inventory, internal controls, and the month-end close process.The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving combined with hands-on manufacturing accounting, inventory, and procure-to-pay processes.
