Job summary

Wolverine Fuels, LLC is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in managing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. You will play a key role in month-end close, budgeting, audits, and financial analysis.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred. 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience, prior public or corporate accounting experience, and supervision of accounting staff are

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts; ensure accuracy of records.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Support audit processes and respond to inquiries.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.
• Provide financial analysis insights for strategic decisions.
• Supervise accounting staff and mentor as needed.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Assist with tax filings and coordination with external tax advisors.
• Record and reconcile fixed asset entries; file annual property tax.
• Draft monthly, quarterly, and annual lender compliance reporting.

Job Summary

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy in financial records, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to process improvements. The Assistant Controller plays a key role in month-end close, budgeting, audits, and financial analysis.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
• Support the preparation and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (or relevant accounting standards) and regulatory requirements
• Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries
• Help develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff as needed
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
