Job summary

Intermountain Home Services (IHS) seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to join our centralized Corporate Accounting team in Sandy, Utah. This hands-on leadership role will have primary responsibility for 2–3 assigned brands while also supporting Corporate Accounting and HoldCo activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely month-end close.

You will partner with the Corporate Controller, FP&A, Treasury, Accounts Payable, and brand leadership to strengthen internal controls,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience managing month-end close and reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

Job description

Intermountain Home Services (IHS) is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our centralized Corporate Accounting team in Sandy, Utah.

IHS operates across 7 brands plus HoldCo, with Corporate Accounting providing centralized accounting and financial reporting support. The Assistant Controller will have primary accounting responsibility for 2–3 assigned IHS brands, while also supporting Corporate Accounting and HoldCo activities.

This is a hands-on accounting leadership role responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely month-end close, balance sheet integrity, accounting controls, and consistent accounting processes across the assigned brands.

The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Corporate Controller, FP&A, Treasury, Accounts Payable, branch leadership, and other members of the Corporate Accounting team.

Requirements

What You'll Do

• Manage accounting and financial reporting for 2-3 assigned brands.
• Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement review.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide insights to leadership.
• Oversee general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, leases, and intercompany transactions.
• Partner with AP, FP&A, and brand leadership to support business operations and financial performance.
• Maintain strong internal controls and support audit and compliance requirements.
• Drive process improvements, automation, and accounting system enhancements.
• Serve as a key user of Sage Intacct, Velixo, and Excel for reporting and analysis.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience managing month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Preferred

• CPA or CPA candidate.
• Experience with Sage Intacct, Velixo, or similar ERP/reporting tools.
• Background in multi-entity, multi-location, or private equity-backed organizations.
• Experience in home services, construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or field services industries.
