Job summary

1Sharpe Capital in the Bay Area is seeking a highly capable finance/accounting leader to drive fund accounting, financial reporting, and treasury operations across multiple private investment funds. You will work closely with the firm's Controller, COO, and fund administrator to ensure timely and accurate financial statements in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires a self-starter with strong GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to automate processes.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Excellent Excel skills and experience with accounting or portfolio management systems.
• CPA designation (or progress toward one) is a plus but not required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for multiple private investment funds and management entities.
• Assist with financial reconciliations of month-end closing processes.
• Coordinate with third-party fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, custodians, and banking partners.
• Monitor fund cash flows, capital activity, management fees, incentive allocations, and financing facilities.
• Cash identification and real time booking of loan cashflows (i.e. loan funding, payoffs etc…).
• Supporting treasury functions including banking activities (cash and FX management) and interactions with various debt financing providers (weekly/monthly remittances, quarterly/annual reports & certifications, etc…).
• Assist with investor reporting and regulatory filings.
• Analyze portfolio activity and understand how investment transactions flow through the financial statements.
• Partner closely with the investment, operations, compliance, and investor relations teams on strategic initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve operational efficiency.

The Role

An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to be a leader in the finance/accounting team. A successful candidate will not only be a critical part of the fund's treasury, accounting and finance operations, but will be expected to seek out solutions to make the reporting process and ultimate work product better. This is a very fast-paced, fast-growing environment and so candidate must be able to pivot quickly and roll up their sleeves to find a solution.

The candidate should be experienced finance/accounting professional to join our team in a role that blends fund accounting, financial reporting, operations, and investment support. This individual will work directly with the firm's Controller, COO and fund administrator to ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial statements. They should be a self-starter, highly organized, enjoy working in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment and wants to grow into a broader finance leadership role.

Must be able to work in office (San Francisco) 5 days a week.

• 5+ years of accounting or finance experience within an investment manager, fund administrator, private credit firm, mortgage finance company, bank, or other financial institution
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Excellent Excel skills and experience with accounting or portfolio management systems.
