General Description of Duties

The Assistance Controller position reports to the Director of Finance.The Assistant Controller will perform various accounting, pricing, and reporting tasks and the lead role in the SAP Financial Implementation Project as listed in the essential job functions.This individual must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with those inside and outside the company, while achieving and enhancing performance standards.

Essential Job Functions

ACCOUNTING & REPORTING:

• Analyze and report on the sales volumes (KG) and gross margin calculations and profitability trends for AFF Worldwide.
• Assist in the AFF-US monthly accounting close relating to COGS reconciliations, inventory journal entries, inventory valuations, product disposals, and inventory reserves.
• Prepare analysis reporting of cost and pricing trends, changes made and effects on margins.
• Prepare the monthly submission to the TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) for the Alcohol Drawback.
• Drive change, as needed, to ensure compliance to GAAP and Company Policies.
• Review current processes and provide recommendation for continuous improvement and clearly communicating relevant financial information to executive management.

SAP IMPLEMENTATION:

• AFF Project Lead for the system migration project from Dynamics to SAP while working with the Monster SAP Implementation Team.
• Actively assist the configuration and customization of SAP finance modules (e.g., FI, CO) to meet AFF’s manufacturing business needs and map the process flows.
• Working with the Monster SAP Implementation Team, develop and execute project plans, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring adherence to SAP best practices for manufacturing businesses.
• Train and guide AFF Finance Team members on best practices and procedures within the SAP finance modules - FI and CO.
• Work closely with Monster and AFF Finance and IT teams to allocate resources, mitigate risks, and ensure timely completion of the project deliverables.

PRICING:

• Establish selling prices on existing products using the unit pricing module of the FABS (Food and Beverage System) while maintaining current or acceptable margins, based on input from the R&D, Purchasing, Customer Care, and Sales departments.
• Periodically review and proactively update all product pricing prior to expiration date. The review should be conducted whereby all products are reviewed on a quarterly basis (at a minimum) each year, or as needed, depending upon market conditions and trends.
• Review raw material (i.e., ingredients) on a periodic basis and prepare “where-used” analyses to determine the price impact of any significant raw material cost changes.
• On a quarterly basis, present to the Pricing Review Committee all the proposed price changes (with explanations, reasoning and back-up on proposed price changes) and submit the approved price changes to the customer prior to the beginning of the next quarter.
• Update the Sales Quote System regularly based on demand from new customer purchase orders and from the Sales Team quotes and complete the updates within 24 hours of request.
• Assist in the development of more efficient pricing strategy and process.

COSTING:

• Working with the Purchasing, Customer Care, and R&D Teams, stay up-to-date on market and seasonal conditions (supply/demand) of various commodity products/ingredients and anticipate trends to adjust pricing accordingly at the right time, and based on current inventories and supply chain criteria.
• Update and maintain the total unit costs of FABS by reviewing the monthly AFF purchasing and external market data.
• Perform product manufacturing, packaging and labor costs, for all product categories, when and as needed, and analyze these costs to improve our cost monitoring process.
• Collect and analyze the material costs of the purchased raw materials.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a Standard Material and Labor Costing System.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (Accounting Degree required)
• CMA or CPA Certificate (preferred)
• Strong skills in SAP Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO) and Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables and V-LOOKUP) and PowerPointare required.
• Active role in SAP Implementation Projects (specifically the finance modules – FI and CO) is preferred.
• Proficient in cost accounting, statistics, charting, modeling, and trend analyses.
• 5 years of general and/or cost accounting experience (standard costing environment preferred)
• Experience in the beverage and/or flavor industries would be preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) to work together with co-workers, management and various other departments.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy and focused on quality of work.
• Must report to any company facility according to company need, sometimes with same-day notice.
