Job summary

Inceed is partnering with a great company to identify an experienced Assistant Controller. You will lead upstream oil and gas accounting, assist with monthly and year-end closes, and partner with operations and leadership to strengthen controls.

Seeking a hands-on accounting leader with 8+ years of experience, GAAP mastery, and strong communication skills. This role offers a collaborative environment and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership exposure.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee revenue, JIB, AP, production accounting, and reporting coordination.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and close deliverables.
• Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
• Assist with annual audit preparation and supporting schedules.
• Partner with operations, land, revenue, and FP&A teams.
• Support process improvements and accounting system enhancements.
• Help mentor and develop the accounting team.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced accounting leader who enjoys working in a hands-on, high-impact environment. You’ll play a key role in supporting upstream oil and gas accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close while partnering closely with operations and leadership to improve processes and strengthen controls.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Oversee revenue, JIB, AP, production accounting, and reporting coordination.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and close deliverables.
• Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
• Assist with annual audit preparation and supporting schedules.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong upstream oil and gas accounting background.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience with financial reporting and close processes.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivots and lookups.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

• Public accounting experience.
• Multi-entity accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP or production accounting systems.
• Exposure to data analysis tools or reporting automation.
• SQL experience.
