Base pay range

$175,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr

An investment management firm is seeking an experienced professional to join their team as an Assistant Controller in their New York City office. This role will follow a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate daily with the Investment and Operations teams to maintain accurate accounting records and financial statements.
• Train and oversee both onshore and offshore teams, ensuring they receive challenging opportunities to foster career growth. Facilitate the development of offshore team members, ensuring they effectively integrate into the team and have access to growth opportunities.
• Research and recommend solutions to enhance process efficiency and reporting effectiveness and collaborate with senior team members and technology teams to discuss these improvements. Support the validation of system report enhancements and new functionalities.
• Monitor all investments and assess their performance, actively engaging with investment and origination professionals to resolve complex inquiries.
• Review and approve quarterly financial reports, compliance documentation, and investor reporting for all assigned funds, ensuring adherence to fund governing documents, GAAP standards, credit facility agreements, and SEC regulations.
• Perform other duties, as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting required.
• 10-15 years of experience in alternative investments within private industry (e.g., hedge funds, private equity, banking, administration, etc.) or public accounting.
• CPA is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting for investment companies is essential.
• Experience with distressed debt, credit instruments, foreign investments, and/or originated loans is preferred.
