Job summary

The COOL Company in Miami seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to lead multi-entity accounting, strengthen reporting and controls, and build a scalable finance function for a fast-growing AI company.

Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee day-to-day accounting, support monthly closes and consolidated reporting, manage the accounting team, and advance systems, processes, and automation with an eye toward accuracy and business insight.

• 7–10+ years of accounting/finance experience.

• Join COOL as Assistant Controller: lead multi-entity accounting, strengthen reporting and controls, and use technology to build a scalable finance function in a fast-growing AI company
• The COOL Company is seeking an experienced, hands-on Assistant Controller to help lead our accounting and financial reporting function as the organization continues to scale
• Reporting to the CFO, the Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, support the monthly close and consolidated financial reporting process, lead and develop members of the accounting team, and help strengthen the Company’s financial systems, processes, and controls
• The ideal candidate combines strong U.S. GAAP and technical accounting expertise with proven leadership capabilities and experience operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This individual should be comfortable working across multiple entities and currencies and have the financial acumen to support financial analysis, forecasting, and key business metrics
• We are looking for a modern, technology-oriented finance professional who combines strong accounting fundamentals with a continuous-improvement mindset and an interest in using systems, automation, and AI to build a more scalable finance organization

• Accounting & Financial Reporting:
• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and support a timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Oversee accounting across multiple legal entities, business units, and currencies
• Manage multi-entity consolidation and foreign currency accounting, including transaction remeasurement, balance sheet translation, intercompany activity, and related foreign exchange gains and losses
• Oversee and review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and other close activities
• Oversee revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other core accounting functions
• Support appropriate accounting treatment and documentation for new, unusual, or complex business transactions
• Maintain and continuously improve the Company’s chart of accounts, accounting policies, close procedures, and financial reporting processes
• Support annual audit and tax activities and work directly with external auditors, tax professionals, and other advisors
• Help maintain and strengthen an effective internal control environment appropriate for a growing organization
• Ensure financial reporting is accurate, consistent, appropriately documented, and delivered on a timely basis
• Leadership & Team Development:
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and development to members of the accounting and finance team
• Establish clear ownership, accountability, and performance expectations
• Review the work of team members while remaining willing to work directly in the details when necessary
• Help develop team capabilities and create opportunities for professional growth
• Build scalable processes while maintaining the flexibility required in a fast-paced organization
• Partner effectively with Sales, Operations, HR, Technology, and other business functions
• Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Financial Planning & Business Analytics:
• Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Support FP&A analyses, including budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, revenue and margin analysis, and operating expense management
• Help develop, maintain, and monitor key financial and operating metrics
• Assist in translating financial results into meaningful insights for senior leadership
• Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities and proactively communicate findings to the CFO
• Support scenario modeling and analyses related to strategic and operational business decisions
• Help ensure consistency between accounting results, management reporting, forecasts, and operating metrics
• Develop a strong understanding of the underlying drivers of the business rather than focusing solely on historical accounting results
• Systems, Processes & Scalability:
• Continuously improve financial processes, systems, automation, and reporting
• Help ensure the finance infrastructure can support increasing transaction volume, geographic expansion, new products, and organizational growth
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes, improve data quality, strengthen controls, and increase efficiency
• Evaluate opportunities to utilize AI-enabled tools and automation to improve finance and accounting efficiency, accuracy, reporting, and insight
• Participate in and potentially lead ERP implementation, optimization, integration, and enhancement projects
• Partner with internal teams and external providers on financial system architecture, data flows, and integrations
• Improve the availability, consistency, and reliability of financial and operational data
• Help establish scalable financial policies and procedures without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
