Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 6+ years of accounting experience in a multi-entity corporate environment with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Sage Intacct (or other ERP) experience, plus familiarity with TMW, TMT, and Depot is a plus.
• Experience implementing processes and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize assignments.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and review bank reconciliations and daily cash reports across all entities.
• Inventory control and management.
• Manage and maintain petty cash.
• Intercompany and Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries and review multi-entity entries.
• Handle tax and franchise fee returns and filings.
• Fixed Asset management including depreciation allocations and reconciliations.
• Review invoices entered into the system for accuracy.
• Reconcile credit card statements.
• Prepare and maintain records for annual audits.
• Assist with monthly expense variances analysis and review.
• Support and review entries made by Senior Accountant.
• Assist Controller with month end close duties and generating financial statements.
• Lead 1099 management and ensure timely submission for all entities.
• Develop reports within Intacct with Controller and CFO.
• Manage and lead a team of 5-7 accounting staff.
• IFTA reporting and truck/trailer registrations.

Job description

The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely generation of the company's month end close and to assist with the implementation of accounting systems and procedures. In addition, this position will assist the Controller with various special projects and financial analysis as needed. This position must be able to work under tight deadlines, troubleshoot and enjoy working in a team focused collaborative work environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with and review bank reconciliations and daily cash reports across all entities
• Inventory control and management
• Manage and maintain petty cash
• Intercompany and Balance Sheet account reconciliations
• Preparation of journal entries and the review of multi-entity accounting system entries
• Various tax and franchise fee returns and filings
• Fixed Asset management including depreciation expense allocations and reconciliations
• Manage, review, and audit invoices entered into the system for accuracy
• Reconcile credit card statements
• Prepare and maintain accurate records and schedules for annual audits
• Assist with the monthly expense variances analysis and review
• Support and review accounting entries made by Senior Accountant
• Assist Controller with month end close duties including but not limited to journal entries, accruals, GL review, AP/AR cutoffs, balance sheet roll forwards, and generating financial statements
• Lead 1099 management and assure 1099s are completed and submitted each January for all entities
• Work closely with Controller and CFO to develop reports within Intacct
• Manage and lead a team of 5-7 accounting team members
• Manage IFTA Reporting and Truck/Trailer Registrations
• Other job-related duties and special projects assigned by Controller or CFO

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 6 years of prior accounting experience with a multi-entity corporate accounting department with a minimum of 2 years managerial experience
• Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
• Sage Intacct (or other ERP system), TMW, TMT, and Depot Experience a plus
• Process and procedure implementation experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize assignments
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
