Reports to: Controller
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 a year
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for creating timely and accurate reports for routine and ad hoc requests. Key focus areas include inventory, repair & maintenance, production supplies, energy, and supporting special projects and presentations as needed. Additional functions include weekly estimates, month-end closing, participation in profit improvement teams (PIP), and backing up other accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Roll Stock (RS) reporting: consumption, receipts, on-hand, and aged inventory.
- Analyze revenue, customer mix, and reconcile revenues to SAP.
- Conduct physical inventories and cycle counts for Roll Stock and Spare Parts.
- Process accounts payable, expense reports, and review EDI (RS) shipments.
- Prepare weekly estimates for RS consumption, rebates, and waste income.
- Assist in month-end closing and financial reporting, including account analysis for prime materials and converting costs (Energy, R&M, Distribution, Overheads).
- Handle Goods Received/Invoice processing, prepare POs and FIs before AP cut-off, and compute Shrink Calculations.
- Report on Fixed Assets and Capital Projects.
- Collaborate with the Controller and Management Team to develop and prepare the annual budget, including KPIs for presentation to Pratt Executive Management.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls.
- Perform heavy ad hoc reporting and analysis using Excel and other systems.
- Work independently and effectively multitask.
- Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
- Preferred 5+ years in manufacturing industry.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), with intermediate Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and graphs.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, and payroll processes.
- Experience in assessing, analyzing, and improving business performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to speak effectively before groups.
