Qualifications

SHR Talent is partnering with a manufacturing client near Dickson, TN in its search for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller. As an integral part of the finance team, the Assistant Controller will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and providing strategic insights to support the company's growth and will be responsible for preparing financial reporting and analysis, cost control and profitability analysis and budgeting and forecasting, assisting with ad-hoc projects, providing general ledger and cashflow management as well as audit support, and maintaining internal controls.

A successful candidate for the Assistant Controller role will have excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis, providing insights to support decision‑making processes
• Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring proper recording of transactions, account reconciliations, and adherence to accounting principles
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Collaborate with the Controller and other stakeholders to develop annual budgets and forecasts
• Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide variance analysis reports
• Assist in cost management initiatives
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls
• Review processes and procedures, identifying areas for improvement and recommending enhancements
• Support the annual external audit process
• Collaborate with auditors, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process
• Monitor cash flow activities, including cash collections, disbursements, and cash forecasting
• Identify cash flow trends and potential risks, proposing appropriate strategies to optimize cash utilization
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather necessary financial data and provide financial insights for decision‑making purposes
• Assist with special projects as assigned by management

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification, preferred
• Proven experience as an Assistant Controller or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications
• Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques
