Job Description
The Hilton Columbus is seeking a Property Controller to assist in maintaining control over revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities. The role involves providing direct supervision and training to accounting staff, ensuring all financial record-keeping and reporting functions comply with company policies, procedures, and requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission. Knowledge of Income Audits and Night Audit procedures is required.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise accounting team members. Participate in conducting annual performance reviews.
- Supervise biweekly payroll processing, verify input to supporting documentation, and coordinate submission to the Corporate Office.
- Respond to guest inquiries via phone and email; send guest folios as requested.
- Manage accounting computer systems, data backups, and file organization.
- Maintain control over record-keeping, including:
- Reconciliation of balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Preparation and review of postings to subsidiary and general ledgers.
- Coordinate monthly general ledger closing and journal entries.
- Ensure all financial transactions adhere to accepted accounting principles and internal policies.
- Manage chargeback inquiries by providing merchants with rebuttal documentation.
- Prepare tax workbook for valid tax-exempt revenue.
- Supervise Accounts Payable and Receivable processes.
- Conduct monthly departmental meetings.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal operations.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience. A four-year college degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of five years in an accounting role, preferably with a complex corporate property.
- Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain any required government licenses or certificates. CPR certification is preferred.
- Grooming: Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance as per the Team Member Handbook standards.
- Other: Additional language skills are preferred.
