Solomon Page is assisting a growing professional services organization in the Delray Beach area to recruit an Assistant Controller who will own key financial processes and partner closely with leadership across the organization.

The Assistant Controller will oversee the monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, and expense management in a multi-entity environment, balancing detailed accounting responsibilities with broader financial analysis.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with month-end close and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end close and deliver results on deadlines.
• Review GL activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with monthly financial reporting and management-level packages.
• Support annual budgeting with department leaders to establish assumptions and targets.
• Analyze budget-to-actual variances and key drivers.
• Maintain expense allocation methodologies across entities and cost centers.
• Partner with accounting and operations to investigate discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy.
• Assist with annual audit activities and provide supporting schedules.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes and internal controls.
• Provide guidance to junior accounting team members.
• Communicate financial information to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Take on additional accounting and financial analysis projects as the business evolves.

The Assistant Controller will play an important role in overseeing the monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, and expense management functions. This position is well suited for a CPA with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience who is comfortable operating in a multi-entity environment and can balance detailed accounting responsibilities with broader financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and drive the month-end close process, ensuring financial results are accurate and delivered within established deadlines
• Review general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting financial schedules
• Assist with the preparation and review of monthly financial reporting and management-level financial packages
• Support the annual budgeting process, working with department leaders to develop assumptions and establish appropriate expense targets
• Analyze budget-to-actual results and communicate meaningful variances, trends, and financial drivers
• Maintain and evaluate expense allocation methodologies across departments, entities, and cost centers
• Partner with accounting and operational teams to investigate discrepancies and improve financial reporting accuracy
• Assist with annual audit activities and provide supporting schedules and documentation
• Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, reporting procedures, and internal controls

Required Qualifications

• Active CPA license required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong experience with month-end close and financial reporting
• Background working in a multi-entity environment strongly preferred
• Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, cost management, and/or cost allocation
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and financial models
• Highly analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both accounting and operational teams
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
