Controller

Job Summary:

Our client in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Controller for a contract position.

The corporate Controller, as the finance leader of the US corporate office, oversees all financial functions including banking, financing, intercompany transactions, insurance, prepaids, interest, fixed assets, accounts payable, accruals, receivables, cost control, and variance analysis to forecast and budget for multiple cost centers. The role also involves financial management of the Research & Development Lab.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. College diploma or university accounting degree (CA, CMA, or CPA preferred).
2. At least 5 years of experience in finance within manufacturing or corporate environments, preferably automotive.
3. Experience managing a team of two financial analysts with proven leadership skills.
4. Strong independent critical thinking and attention to detail.
5. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
6. Experience working in an AS400 environment; Epicor (CMS) experience is preferred.
7. Knowledge of Bill 198 internal control requirements.
8. Advanced proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities:

1. Communicate financial results regularly to management and corporate, explaining variances and partnering with departmental leaders.
2. Manage and oversee month-end reporting and daily financial activities.
3. Create accurate forecasts for multiple cost centers, updating weekly and explaining variances monthly.
4. Review and approve journal entries monthly.
5. Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with Bill 198.
6. Propose and implement continuous improvements in financial and production processes.
7. Lead the annual budgeting process, involving departmental heads and ensuring accountability.
8. Manage external and internal audits, ensuring thorough documentation and prompt issue resolution.
