Job summary

SSR, Inc. is seeking a field-oriented civil engineering professional in Nashville to coordinate staffing and site operations, support project meetings, and ensure quality control and documentation across projects.

You will perform field testing, assist with QC programs, and represent the team while maintaining ethical engineering standards and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with two years of experience or relevant combination.
• Technical school graduate with 4 years of construction-related experience.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and auto insurance are required.
• Construction testing certifications (e.g. ESPC, hotmix, concrete, OSHA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
• Coordinate the work of colleagues on construction sites and support day-to-day field logistics.
• Attend weekly project progress meetings to discuss current and potential issues.
• Ensure proper administration of project plans and documentation; maintain accurate progress records.
• Respond to client suggestions and complaints promptly and drive resolution.
• Perform testing procedures (e.g., density testing of soils/aggregates, concrete testing, asphalt materials testing).
• Assist in developing and implementing quality control programs.
• Engage in ongoing self-education and training to keep up with industry trends and changes.
• Perform responsibilities consistent with ethical engineering standards outlined in the company handbook.
• Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

Technical school diploma with 4 years of experience

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

What You’ll Do

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with two years of experience OR
• Technical school graduate with 4 years of experience
• Possession of a valid state-issued driver’s license and required auto insurance
• Construction testing certifications (e.g. ESPC, hotmix, concrete, OSHA, etc.) preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• General knowledge of state and/or local construction and building guidelines and roadway construction practices (reconstruction, rehabilitation, pavement management).
• Ability to interpret highway contracts, special provisions, plans, and specifications; read technical drawings and related documents.
• Strong interpersonal skills with clear written and verbal communication; detail orientation and sound judgment/decision-making.
