Job summary

Shea Properties in California is seeking an Assistant Community Manager to support daily leasing operations and lead leasing staff under the Community Manager. This role focuses on ensuring accurate data entry, timely reporting, and compliant leasing procedures.

You will assist in budgeting, coordinate with maintenance and leasing teams, and help implement marketing and pricing strategies to meet community goals. Strong communication and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Effective oral and written communication; ability to give clear direction.
• Understanding of accounting principles and budgeting basics.
• Basic understanding of marketing concepts and data analysis.
• Customer service experience in property management or related field.
• Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Yardi & Yieldstar preferred.
• Experience managing staff and leading by example.
• Minimum 2 years property management experience; at least 1 year in a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise leasing staff and daily leasing office activities.
• Oversee data entry into property management software and related reporting.
• Review move-in/move-out statements and ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Review rental applications and support fair housing practices.
• Assist in rent increases, renewals, and necessary documentation.
• Coordinate move-ins with Leasing and Maintenance; monitor scheduling.
• Prepare reports and manage budget-related tasks with Community Manager.
• Support staff development and lead ongoing training and PDPs.
