Job summary

HSL Asset Management LLC is seeking an Assistant Community Director for an on-site multifamily community in Arizona. The role supports the Community Director in daily operations, leasing, and resident relations, while coordinating with on-site teams to ensure an exceptional resident experience.

You will assist with reporting, financial record-keeping, and move-in/move-out processes, helping drive occupancy and service quality in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

Assistant Community Director

Are you an organized, customer-focused professional who enjoys balancing property operations, leasing, resident relations, and administrative responsibilities?

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Community Directorto support the day-to-day operations of a multifamily apartment community. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, supporting leasing performance, and helping create an exceptional experience for residents.

As the Assistant Community Director, you'll work closely with the Community Director while gaining hands-on experience across multiple areas of multifamily property management. You'll also step in to support property operations and objectives in the Community Director's absence.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll help keep the community running smoothly while supporting residents, prospects, and the on-site team. Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Community Director with daily property operations and administrative responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports
  • Maintain resident financial records, including rents, deposits, and application fees
  • Assist with delinquent rent collection and applicable resident notices
  • Ensure bank deposits are completed accurately and timely
  • Greet prospective residents, showcase the community, and use effective leasing and closing techniques
  • Support all phases of the leasing process, including resident retention and renewals
  • Build positive relationships with residents and provide exceptional customer service
  • Respond professionally to questions and concerns from prospects, residents, vendors, and team members
  • Assist with move-in and move-out inspections, vacancy inspections, and resident move-out paperwork
  • Coordinate resident service requests with the maintenance team
  • Support and train leasing team members as assigned
  • Monitor local market conditions, competitors, and multifamily industry trends
  • Assist with community marketing initiatives and resident satisfaction efforts
  • Help plan and coordinate resident events, promotions, and communications
  • Communicate with vendors and contractors regarding scheduling, billing, and required documentation
  • Maintain organized and accurate reports, records, procedures, and property documentation
  • Assist with purchasing community and office supplies within established budget guidelines
What We're Looking For

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1–2 years of related professional experience
  • Basic bookkeeping skills
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a sales, marketing, leasing, and customer service environment
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, and general computer applications
  • Knowledge of applicable eviction procedures and property management requirements
  • Working knowledge of Fair Housing, Section 8 housing, eviction law, and other legal considerations affecting property management
  • Reliable transportation and current automobile insurance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 months to 1 year of property management or related experience
  • Apartment leasing, sales, or marketing experience
  • Experience with property management software such as Yardi, RentCafe, and YieldStar
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred but not required
