Job summary

Benedictine University is seeking an Assistant Coach (Seasonal) for Track & Field (Sprints) at the Lisle Campus. The role focuses on sprint events and includes recruiting support and administrative tasks for pre-season and post-season training.

Must be able to work flexible hours, travel districtwide and statewide, and adhere to NCAA Division III policies. This is a seasonal, non-benefit eligible position with a stipend up to $3,000 based on start date.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Coaching experience required.
• Knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy and recruitment rules.
• Valid driver's license preferred; CPR/AED and USATF Level One preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and administer sprint event practices.
• Assist in recruiting qualified student-athletes.
• Coordinate travel logistics and team events.
• Assist in meet preparation and strategy implementation.
• Represent Benedictine University with professionalism at events.

Job Title: Assistant Coach (Seasonal) -Track & Field (Sprints)

Reports to: Directorof Track & Field

Status: Seasonal, Non-Benefit Eligible

Location: Lisle Campus

Rate: Stipend up to $3,000 based on the start date of assigned period

Position Summary:

The primary focus of the Assistant Coach (Seasonal) willbe the sprint events. Also, administrative support (recruiting).Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training athletes on thetrack & field team, and assisting the Director of Track & Field in allaspects of pre-season & post-season training, practice, competition, andrecruitment. Must be capable of having a flexible practice schedule, monitoringstudent-athlete academic success, and recruiting strategy for event groups.Also assist the Director of Track & Field in organizing team events, travellogistics, hosting outdoor invitationals, and team fundraising. Adherence toNCAA Division III rules and regulations, supporting the philosophy, goals, andmission of the college and its intercollegiate athletics program, as well asadherence to departmental, university, NACC Conference, and NCAA Division 3policies and procedures is required.

1. 1. Assist in the planning, organizing, andadministration of event group practice with various practice times available toathletes.
2. 2. Teach proper fundamentals and techniques of the sprintevents through safe training and long-term development of athletes.
3. 3. Assist with recruiting qualified prospectivestudent-athletes who meet the academic and athletic standards of our program.
4. 4. Assist in organizing logistics for BenedictineUniversity team travel and fundraising goals.
5. 5. Assist in meet competition preparation andimplementation of meet strategies.
6. 6. Develop relationships within and positively promote Benedictine University and its surrounding community.
7. 7. Attend Department and university-related meetings and events as directed.
8. 8. Represent the Department of Athletics with sportsmanship, integrity, and a high degree of professionalism.
9. 9. Create a positive experience and program assessment for the student-athletes.
10. 10. Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers, and fans.

Education: High School Graduate/GED Required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Experience: Previous CoachingExperience Required

Specific Skills: Knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy,recruitment, rules and regulations

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Yes. Knowledge of NCAA sprint events and relays. ValidDriver’s License required. CPR/AED certification is preferred. USATF Level OneCertification is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to handle varying levels of stress whilemaintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking,kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewidetravel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heator cold weather.
Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to see details ofobjects that are less than a few feet away or are more than a few feet away.Must be able to stand for long periods of time. General Customer service andoffice environment.
