Job summary

Available Positions is seeking a Basketball Assistant Coach to support the head coach in organizing the program at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School. You will help conduct practices, motivate students, and teach game strategies and techniques.

The role includes organizing drills, supervising athletes, and adhering to school policies. You will participate in events and ensure proper record keeping and equipment management, while fostering a faith-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching basketball at high school level.
• Ability to organize practices and drills.
• Ability to communicate with players, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in instructing players on rules, equipment, and techniques.
• Organize and direct individual and small-group practice activities as directed by the head coach.
• Monitor players during games and practices and report performance to the head coach.
• Assist with game strategy and decision-making.
• Supervise athletes during practices and competitions and ensure safety and conduct.

Job Summary

Position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the Basketball program at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.

Essential Duties

1. 1. Assists the Head Basketball coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
2. 2. Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head Basketball coach.
3. 3. Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head Basketball coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
4. 4. Assists with determining game strategy.
5. 5. Assists the head Basketball coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
6. 6. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
7. 7. Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
8. 8. Maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
9. 9. Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
10. 10. Assists the head Basketball coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season.
11. 11. Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
12. 12. Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
13. 13. Participates in the formation of the christian faith with athletes under your supervision. Prayer, team mass, and the school's missions must be kept at the utmost importance.

Other Duties

1. 1. Attends staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
2. 2. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head Basketball Coach, Athletic Director & Principal or other appropriate administrator.
3. 3. Possibly help transport athletes using our vans.
