Qualifications

• Must model a Christ-centered life and be a member of a Bible-believing church.

• Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of basketball.
• Bachelor’s Degree required; 3–5 years coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Seeks to model Christ-like character in speech, actions, and attitude.
• Responsible for the holistic development of players in academics, athletics, and their daily walk with Jesus.
• Manage and supervise daily practices, scrimmages, and games for individual and team growth.
• Develop a regular practice schedule ensuring both individual and team development.
• Maintain equipment, supplies and uniforms per procedures.
• Maintain records for TAPPS and GFCS regulations including eligibility and attendance forms.
• Coordinate and oversee game day operations for smooth games.
• Take and maintain accurate daily attendance records.
• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training for success.
• Participate in ministry opportunities and school activities to support the mission.
• Work with staff to set instructional goals for student athletes.
• Maintain discipline and boost morale within the athletic program and community.
• Provide updates to the Head Varsity Basketball Coach on issues and highlights.
• Report injuries promptly to the athletic trainer.
• Attend staff development meetings to improve coaching performance.

Position Summary

The Boys Basketball Coach will maximize the powerful platform of athletics for the purpose of developing, training and educating students in soccer to enhance the potential of all athletes. The coach will fill this crucial role through prayer, practice and discipline. The coach will report to the Head Varsity Basketball Coach.

High School Assistant Coach

Season and Schedule

• Season:'26-'27 Winter
• Practice Time:7:00am-9:00am
• Game Days:Tuesdays, Fridays, some Thursday and Saturdays during tournament season
• Game Times:4:30 & 7:30pm

Responsibilities

1. Seeks to model in speech, actions, and attitude, a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ and exemplifies a Christ-like character both on and off the field.
2. Responsible for the positive development of players in academics, athleticism, basketball skills, and their daily walk with Jesus Christ.
3. Manage and supervise daily practices, scrimmages and games to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline and respect that honor The Lord.
4. Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
5. Follow established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies and uniforms.
6. Maintain records to ensure compliance with all pertinent TAPPS and GFCS regulations, including eligibility forms, transfer forms and attendance.
7. Coordinates and oversees all game day operations, including court setup, takedown, equipment management, and ensuring games run smoothly and efficiently.
8. Required to take and maintain accurate daily attendance records.
9. Instructs athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
10. Actively involved and integrated into the ministry opportunities and special activities of the school such as mission trips, service projects, retreats, pep rallies, banquets and parent nights.
11. Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
12. Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community.
13. Update the Head Varsity Basketball Coach frequently about any issues, concerns, or highlights.
14. Reports all injuries/accidents in a timely manner to the athletic trainer.
15. Attend staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
16. Maintain and uphold the religious standards of Faith Christian School to include the Lifestyle Statement, Staff Covenant and Statement of Faith.
17. Responsible to disciple, instruct and actively pray for the students on our campus.
18. Responsible to reinforce a Biblical Worldview in every workplace interaction with both students, staff and faculty.
19. Other duties as assigned that are closely related to this position.

Qualifications

• Must possess and model a personal authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and be a member of a Bible believing church.
• Must possess a coaching philosophy that embraces the mission and core values of Faith.
• Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of basketball.
• Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of basketball coaching experience at the U13 level or higher in a leadership role.
• A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Proven experience discipling and mentoring young men on and off the field.
• Mastered knowledge of the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary to effectively run a successful basketball program.
• Must have a high level of discernment and wisdom, and the ability to manage confidential information.
• Excellent communication skills with players, parents, staff and coaches.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established school policies and procedures, and the school mission and core values.
• Uses acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speaks with clear articulation.
• Excellent technology skills and willing to adapt to technology changes.
