Job summary

The Columbus City Attorney's Office is seeking a full-time Assistant City Prosecutor (Attorney) to join the Prosecutor Division. We welcome newly admitted Ohio Bar members with up to five years of experience.

Under supervision, the attorney will handle civil or criminal legal work and contribute to prosecution for Columbus and Franklin County municipalities. Salary ranges from $71,011 to $88,691, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Must be admitted to the Ohio Bar and in good standing.
• Up to five years of experience as a licensed attorney.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Evening and weekend hours may be required.
• Spanish or Somali language skills preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily assigned courtroom docket.
• Present cases in trial.
• Respond to defense motions on assigned cases.
• Perform research for pending legal cases.
• Draft documents for filing in court such as motions, memoranda, and briefs.
• Serve as duty prosecutor on a rotating basis.
