Responsibilities

  • Assist the District Attorney in administration and court work.
  • Provide legal advice to law enforcement on investigations, charges, and arrests.
  • Investigate cases; prepare indictments; examine witnesses; prepare cases for prosecution.
  • Prosecute criminal cases in Superior Court and assist colleagues in court.
  • Research and write appeals for Georgia showing why the appellate court should uphold the case.
  • Negotiate guilty pleas with criminal defense attorneys.
  • Manage an assigned caseload of felony cases.
  • Attend Grand Jury proceedings; prosecute probation revocations; defend Habeas Corpus actions.
  • Draft charging instruments; file instruments or submit to Grand Jury; arraign defendants.
