Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking a qualified Assistant City Engineer to supervise and perform advanced professional engineering work in planning, design, plan review, construction, and maintenance of city transportation and drainage infrastructure. The role reports to the City Engineer and requires licensure as a Professional Engineer in Louisiana.

Annual salary ranges from $67,393.87 to $101,069.12, Grade 35, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the Louisiana State Board.
Three years of engineering experience as a PE, preferably civil.
Must possess a valid driver's license; Louisiana license required.
Floodplain management certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Oversee capital project administration, budget monitoring, schedule updates, and invoice processing.
Supervise design and construction phases; coordinate with consultants, contractors, and inspectors; approve change orders.
Plan and review project design, specifications, and bid documents; manage cost projections and schedules.
Communicate with public, property owners, and other agencies; prepare executive summaries and reports for City Council.
