Job summary

Canopy by Hilton New York 34th Street is seeking an experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to join our pre-opening team in New York City. You will help oversee day-to-day engineering operations, lead the Engineering team, and ensure safety, preventive maintenance, and operational excellence across guest rooms, public spaces, and F&B areas.

The role requires hands-on technical knowledge, strong leadership, and flexibility to support evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency responses as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of hotel engineering experience in a supervisory role.
• New York City hotel experience preferred.
• Pre-opening or new hotel opening experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in pre-opening engineering operations and transition to ongoing hotel operations.
• Oversee daily operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
• Maintain preventive maintenance programs and document inspections and activities.
• Lead and develop the Engineering team, assign priorities, and ensure safety standards.
