Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking an Assistant Chief Building Engineer to support operations, maintenance, and repair of building systems in a Chicago facility. You will assist the Chief Engineer, oversee the engineering team, and ensure optimal performance of MEP and HVAC systems on a day-to-day basis.

This role requires strong leadership, hands-on maintenance skills, and the ability to coordinate with vendors and tenants.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years in building maintenance and facility management.

Responsibilities

Assist the Chief Engineer in day-to-day operations and maintenance of building systems.
Supervise and mentor engineering staff to ensure high standards of work quality.
Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions, coordinate repairs with vendors and contractors as needed.
Monitor and adjust building automation systems for energy efficiency.
Maintain compliance with safety and building codes.
Manage inventory and procurement of maintenance supplies.
Ensure timely completion of work orders and documentation of maintenance activities.
Collaborate with property management and tenants on maintenance needs.
Respond to emergency maintenance situations, including after-hours calls as required.
