Job summary

• 5+ years of facilities-related work experience, including 2+ years in a leadership/supervisory capacity.
• Solid knowledge of maintenance processes with some understanding of construction planning and execution.
• Exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation.
• Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.

What this job involves:

As Assistant Chief Engineer, you'll support the Chief Engineer in providing operational leadership for the engineering team, helping ensure machinery and systems operate safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while working toward 100% uptime through reliability-based maintenance practices. You'll assist in implementing equipment inspection and monitoring programs, help define and enforce maintenance best practices, and support ongoing evaluation of operations to enhance effectiveness and maximize performance. Your responsibilities include assisting in the supervision of engineers and maintenance staff, supporting contractor oversight, helping ensure regulatory compliance, and maintaining infrastructure documentation. In the Chief Engineer's absence, you'll assume full operational leadership responsibilities for the engineering team. This position offers the opportunity to develop leadership capabilities while gaining exposure to complex facility systems, with a clear path toward Chief Engineer responsibilities.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Monitor operation and maintenance of refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating, ventilating systems, pumps, valves, piping, and other mechanical and electrical equipment, supporting HVAC repair and preventive maintenance programs under the Chief Engineer's direction Assist in supervising engineers and maintenance staff, contributing to hiring, training, and personal development efforts, and helping reinforce professionalism in manner and appearance across the team Help ensure adequate inventory of tools and supplies by assisting with purchase orders, supporting sourcing of stock materials, and performing periodic checks of inventory levels and equipment conditions Identify safety hazards and support remediation efforts to maintain a safe working environment for staff and occupants, assist in administering safety training programs, and help ensure compliance with regulatory laws and guidelines Support oversight of contractor activities within the building, help ensure the Critical Facility Work Authorization (CFWA) process is well understood among staff and contractors, and assist in maintaining infrastructure and compliance documentation, including up-to-date building drawings and regulatory mandated records.
