Job summary

Abbott in Sturgis, Michigan, is seeking an Assistant Chemist I to test raw ingredients, in-process materials and finished products per quality procedures. You will help ensure specifications are met and support the manufacturing schedule and safety guidelines.

This role requires maintaining GMP/GLP, developing positive relations with chemists and operators, and providing timely feedback to the lead chemist and supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of college lab studies, 1 year of math, plus 2 years of lab experience, or 4 years in manufacturing.
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree with required lab studies and math.
• In compliance with federal law, eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Test raw ingredients, in-process and finished product per QC procedures.
• Maintain GMP/GLP and assist with safety and quality guidelines.
• Maintain training documents and drive training.
• Identify and solve testing problems with some supervision.
• Provide feedback to chemist team and supervisor on status.
