An established industry player is seeking a Certified Assistant Athletic Trainer to join a dedicated team. This full-time position involves providing essential preventative care and rehabilitation services for intercollegiate sports, ensuring the well-being of student-athletes. The Certified Assistant Athletic Trainer is a full-time, 12-month exempt position. This position is a part of a 7-member team of full-time athletic trainers.
The successful candidate provides preventative care, rehabilitation, and athletic trainer services for competitions and practices for intercollegiate sports. This position provides preventative care, rehabilitation and athletic trainer services for all competitions and practices for intercollegiate sports; administer/organize athletic training services for student-athletes; and participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and University, and collective and individual interest of its staff and student body. Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in sports medicine or related field is required.
Skills: Must be able to respond to students and others in extreme circumstances and have the ability to make quick decisions in a life-threatening situation. Must have knowledge of University, NCAA and PSAC policies, rules, and procedures. Must be able to motivate students and to work with a diverse group of people. Must have excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; organizational, supervisory and management skills; budgeting, maintenance and purchasing skills; and team building skills. Must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet scheduled deadlines. Must have the ability to assess student needs and be able to respond to those needs effectively.
Licenses or Certifications:
University Mission: Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.
Education: A master’s degree in sports medicine or related field is preferred.
Certification:
Experience: One-to-three years of athletic training experience is preferred.
Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy University sports environment. Instructional work schedule conforms to professional responsibilities.
Evening and weekend hours, along with flexible work scheduling, are required. Work is performed in the office, athletic training room and playing field in all types of weather. Travel is required and includes extended periods of time on the road.
