Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification or college coursework in diesel mechanics, equipment maintenance, agriculture, construction, fleet management, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in equipment maintenance, fleet or shop operations.
  • 1+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of farm and ranch equipment, facilities, and maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair processes.
  • Familiarity with maintenance systems, inventory, and work orders.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple maintenance requests and changing demands.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL or ability to obtain may be required.

Responsibilities

South Valley Farms is seeking a capable Assistant Central Functions Manager to join our local farm leadership team!

Summary

The Assistant Central Functions Manager supports the daily maintenance and support activities that keep farm and ranch operations running efficiently. This role provides direct supervision to maintenance and shop employees, coordinates daily work activities, monitors equipment readiness, and helps ensure vehicles, facilities, roads, and equipment are maintained safely and effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Help lead the daily maintenance and repair of equipment, vehicles, facilities, roads, and other farm or ranch assets.
  • Supervise, train, and support maintenance employees to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Accountable for employee development, timekeeping, performance management and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Assign and coordinate daily work, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and operational support tasks.
  • Help keep equipment and vehicles in good working condition to reduce downtime and support operations.
  • Track work orders, repairs, and maintenance records to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Monitor the condition of equipment, vehicles, facilities, roads and communicate maintenance needs.
  • Help manage parts, fuel, tools, and other shop inventory needed for daily operations.
  • Support equipment tracking, inspections, maintenance records, and asset disposal activities.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and follows company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe shop and work areas.
  • Work closely with farm, ranch, and support teams to prioritize maintenance needs and support operational goals.
  • Look for ways to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve service levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification, vocational training, associate degree, or college coursework in diesel mechanics, equipment maintenance, agriculture, construction, fleet management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in equipment maintenance, fleet operations, shop operations, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of supervisory, lead, crew leader, or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of farm and ranch equipment, vehicles, facilities, roads, and maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance principles, equipment troubleshooting, and repair processes.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards, maintenance procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems, equipment tracking systems, inventory management, and work order software.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and changing operational demands.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-­making skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and support teams.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on safety, asset reliability, and recordkeeping.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL or ability to obtain one may be required based on operational needs.
