Qualifications

  • 5+ years in maintenance/mechanical roles, including welding.
  • Water well drilling/pump license or ability to obtain within 45 days.
  • Proficient in handling cattle and operating heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ranch houses and facilities.
  • Supervise windmills and stock water infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and supervise outside contractors and vendors.
  • Preventative maintenance and minor repairs of tractors, trucks, and equipment.
  • Ensure reports are accurate and submitted timely.

Sooner Cattle Company is seeking an experienced Ranch Maintenance Administrator to join our local farm team!

Summary:

The Ranch Maintenance Administrator is responsible for accomplishing the stewardship goals by maintaining inventories, maintaining equipment, maintaining housing, maintaining facilities, stock water and assisting in caring for cattle.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain ranch houses and facilities.
  • Supervise the maintenance of windmills and other stock water infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and supervise work of outside contractors and vendors if necessary.
  • Preventative maintenance and minor repairs of tractors, trucks, and other ranch equipment.
  • Ensure all assigned reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for operating at or below annual budget and contributing to establishing the annual capital and operating budgets.
  • Responsible for security and safety within stewardship.
  • Assist with cattle production activities as needed.
  • Coordinate with area and unit managers to ensure maintenance needs are addressed.
  • Always represent ranch professionally.
  • Participate in safety committee.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years’ experience in maintenance, mechanical or related technical skills, to include welding, basic mechanical equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Must have Water Well Drilling/Pump Installation Contractors license or be able to attain in 45 days.
  • Proficient in effectively handling cattle, driving heavy equipment (i.e., tractor, skid steer or similar)
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word) user.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with lease holders and other ranch customers.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Maintain effective verbal and visual communication to exchange information, provide instruction, and identify operational or safety issues.
  • Have Possess adequate visual acuity to observe crop conditions, equipment operation, personnel activity, and environmental hazards, including near and distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral awareness.
  • Physical exertion is generally intermittent, with primary responsibilities focused on supervision, coordination, planning, and decision‑making rather than routine manual labor.

  • Work is conducted in both office and outdoor agricultural environments, requiring regular presence in fields, facilities, and operational work sites.

  • Regular presence around moving agricultural machinery, vehicles, tools, and mechanical equipment, requiring strong situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Potential exposure to airborne particulates such as dust, pollen, soil, and plant materials.
  • Occasional work on uneven, muddy, slippery, or elevated surfaces, with possible exposure to vibration or electrical hazards.
  • Periodic exposure to agricultural chemicals, including fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and fuels, in accordance with training, labeling, and safety procedures.
  • Noise levels may range from moderate to loud depending on equipment use and operational activities.
  • Work schedules may vary based on operational and seasonal demands and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, extended hours, or on‑call responsibilities during peak periods.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided in accordance with applicable laws and company policy, and proper use of required PPE is expected when performing tasks that warrant it.
