Job summary

Verner Center for Early Learning in Asheville, NC seeks an Assistant Center Director to partner with the Center Director in daily operations and high-quality programming, ensuring compliance with licensing and funding requirements. The role supervises teaching staff and supports family engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• At least 1 year of management experience and 5 years of education experience.
• Ability to complete Admin Level 3 within 1 year.
• Ability to lift 30lbs or more.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with licensing, EHS, NC Pre-K, CACFP, and program requirements.
• Complete and maintain health, safety, and program reports monthly.
• Maintain communication with families regarding activities and updates.
• Support family engagement initiatives and parent participation.
• Plan, coordinate, and participate in center events and activities.
• Supervise and evaluate center staff through supervision and evaluations.
• Participate in staff recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and development.
• Coordinate staff communications and scheduling to meet staffing ratios.
• Maintain supervision/documentation activities and act as Acting Center Director when needed.
• Ensure a safe, clean learning environment in all spaces.
• Document safety drills and incident management per policies.
