Job summary

DEAN Adventure Camps in Washington, DC is seeking an Assistant Site Director of Culture & Engagement to build a caring, energetic camp community. You will partner with the Site Director to strengthen team morale, coordinate events, and ensure every day is connected and meaningful.

The role requires leading weekly themes, mentoring staff, resolving conflicts, communicating with 40+ seasonal team members, supervising campers’ transitions, and engaging families during carpool and events.

Qualifications

• This role requires experience leading summer camp programs and staff.
• Proven ability to mentor counselors, resolve conflicts, and build team morale.
• Experience coordinating large groups of campers and activities.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive camp culture that fosters inclusion and growth.
• Lead themed weeks and engagement events with decorations, music, and activities.
• Support morning assemblies with team spotlights and camper recognition.
• Mentor team members, mediate conflicts, and model calm leadership.
• Communicate with 40+ seasonal staff to ensure cross-department collaboration.
• Engage directly with campers across activities and manage transitions.
• Oversee carpool and parent interactions to ensure a welcoming experience.
