Qualifications

Assistant Buyer – Retail & Merchandising

LOCATION: Doral, FL

SCHEDULE: 9AM - 6PM

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Temp for 5 months

PAY RATE: $22/h - $24/h

DESCRIPTION:

ttg Talent Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Global Assistant Buyer to support purchasing, product assortment planning, vendor management, pricing strategies, and merchandising activities for an organization in the retail industry.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of retail buying processes, market trends, inventory management, and financial performance. This position works closely with purchasing leadership and cross-functional teams to optimize product selection, strengthen supplier relationships, and support sales and profitability objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support product selection and assortment planning by evaluating product samples, reviewing market trends, and recommending merchandising improvements.
• Coordinate new vendor and product onboarding processes, ensuring accurate documentation, product information, pricing, and compliance with established requirements.
• Monitor SKU performance, inventory levels, and sales trends to identify opportunities for assortment optimization.
• Maintain productive vendor relationships, communicate product requirements, and support negotiations involving costs, pricing, and promotional agreements.
• Assist with seasonal merchandise planning, promotional calendars, and new product launches.
• Conduct market research and competitor pricing analysis to support informed purchasing decisions.
• Monitor pricing reports, product margins, and financial performance to support profitability goals.
• Collaborate with Logistics, Operations, Compliance, and Inventory Management teams to ensure successful execution of merchandising initiatives.
• Support purchasing and inventory planning through sales forecasts, margin projections, and Open-to-Buy (OTB) analysis.
• Evaluate sell-through performance and recommend pricing adjustments for slow-moving or seasonal merchandise.
• Prepare and analyze departmental reports, including sales performance, inventory turnover, margin contributions, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Ensure products and packaging meet established quality standards and specifications.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 3-5 years of progressive experience in retail buying, merchandising, or product management.
• Strong understanding of retail purchasing, product assortment planning, and inventory management.
• Experience managing supplier relationships, supporting vendor negotiations, and evaluating product quality.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales reports, market trends, and financial data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management systems.
• Familiarity with Open-to-Buy (OTB) planning, pricing strategies, and margin analysis.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional departments.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide actionable recommendations based on data.
