SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the day-to-day accounting functions of the facility, adhering to current acceptable accounting and cost reimbursement principles related to nursing facility operations. Responsibilities may be directed by the Administrator, Business Office Manager, Director of Finance, or Accountant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist in implementing daily functions of the accounting department.
  2. Implement policies and procedures governing the facility's accounting functions.
  3. Standardize work methods for efficiency.
  4. Forward invoices for approval and communicate with vendors regarding errors or questions.
  5. Maintain files of charge slips, debits, credits, etc., for each resident.
  6. Monitor and collect accounts receivable; report delinquencies.
  7. Assist in balancing accounts receivable and preparing monthly financial statements.
  8. Prepare and mail statements, and report on accounting functions.
  9. Assist in bank reconciliations, trial balances, and financial/statistical reports.
  10. Perform data processing functions and develop computer reports.
  11. Ensure resident admission contracts are signed and filed appropriately.
  12. Follow resident fund accounting procedures and provide quarterly fund statements to residents.
  13. Assist in system changes and perform secretarial duties as needed.
  14. Participate in workshops and training to stay current with industry standards.
  15. Request repairs for office equipment and maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  16. Uphold residents' rights to fair treatment and privacy.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in bookkeeping or accounting practices.
  • Experience with Medicaid and Medicare.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the day.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to lift and move weights up to 50 pounds as specified.
