Summary

The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the daily accounting functions of the facility, following acceptable accounting and reimbursement principles related to nursing facility operations. Responsibilities include supporting the Administrator, Business Office Manager, Director of Finance, or Accountant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist in implementing daily accounting functions.
  2. Implement policies and procedures governing accounting activities.
  3. Standardize work methods within the accounting department.
  4. Process invoices and communicate with vendors regarding errors or questions.
  5. Maintain records of all financial transactions per resident.
  6. Monitor and collect accounts receivable; report delinquencies.
  7. Assist in reconciling accounts and preparing financial statements.
  8. Prepare and send billing statements.
  9. Provide reports and recommendations to the Accountant.
  10. Assist with bank reconciliations and trial balances.
  11. Generate financial and statistical reports as directed.
  12. Operate and develop reports using computer systems.
  13. Manage resident admission contracts and ensure proper documentation.
  14. Follow resident fund accounting procedures and provide quarterly statements.
  15. Participate in system upgrades and training sessions.
  16. Perform secretarial and administrative functions as needed.
  17. Attend workshops and training to stay current in the field.
  18. Request repairs for office equipment.
  19. Maintain confidentiality of resident information and report known breaches.
  20. Uphold residents' rights and ensure fair treatment at all times.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three years experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Experience with Medicaid and Medicare required.
