Job summary

Pegasus Staffing Partners seeks an Assistant Business Controller for our Johnson City, TN manufacturing framework. This role partners with plant leadership to deliver precise financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic insights to drive profitability.

You will lead cost analysis, month-end close, and forecasting with a hands-on, results-driven leadership style and a focus on staff development within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within a manufacturing environment, including supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong experience with cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is strongly preferred.
  • CPA is preferred; CMA and/or MBA credentials are also valued.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively partner with both finance and operations teams.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
  • A hands-on, accountable, results-driven leadership style and a genuine interest in developing others.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review accurate, timely financial, operational, and management reporting.
  • Partner with plant and operational leadership to provide financial insight, improve decision-making, and support cost-effective business strategies.
  • Analyze operating results, cost drivers, and capital projects to improve profitability, performance, and ROI.
  • Support continuous-improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, process efficiency, profitability, and operational excellence.
  • Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including required financial reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with the site’s annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Ensure financial results reflect operational activity and business performance.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP, internal-control requirements, policies, audit standards, and regulations.
  • Help lead, coach, and develop accounting staff through delegation, performance management, and recruiting support.
  • Participate in company-wide finance and operational initiatives that improve reporting quality and processes.

A well-established manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Business Controller to join its finance team in Johnson City, Tennessee. This is a highly visible opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys partnering closely with operations, influencing business decisions, and helping drive financial performance within a large, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Business Controller, the Assistant Business Controller will provide financial leadership and operational support across the facility. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in manufacturing accounting, cost analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare and review accurate, timely financial, operational, and management reporting.
  • Partner with plant and operational leadership to provide financial insight, improve decision-making, and support cost-effective business strategies.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience within a manufacturing environment, including supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong experience with cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, and financial analysis.
