RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilities:
- Perform room setups and teardowns based on room usage schedule. This includes, but is not limited to setting up chairs, tables, and other equipment. Sets up will be a mix of standard and special set ups.
- Assist clients with use of building specific equipment and resources (furniture, technology, etc.)
- Perform basic security of supplies and building property; report concerns to supervisors appropriately.
- Oversee with the maintenance of entryway safety and cleanliness (i.e. shovel snow from entrances during inclement weather, wet floor signs and rugs during heavy rain, dispose of leaves, etc.)
- Performs maintenance and repairs, such as changing light bulbs, painting, cleans equipment, etc.
- Assist with the ordering and tracking of supplies needed to maintain the facility.
- Respond to resolve issues as they arise.
Custodial:- Maintain a clean building ensuring a positive environment for all customers by executing work with appropriate safety equipment, chemicals and supplies.
- Clean bathrooms daily by continuously monitoring cleanliness and supply needs.
- Wet mop floor once a day; clean and sanitize toilets, urinals, and sinks; frequently clean mirrors and walls; check for graffiti.
- Operate floor care machines including stripping, buffing, vacuuming (both wet and dry), and carpet cleaning machines.
- Wet and dry mop and sweep all horizontal and vertical surfaces using appropriate equipment.
- Remove trash to outside dumpster and place recycling receptacles out for pick up on as needed basis.
- Spot Wash, Dust, and/or Polish furniture, walls, and windows; Use appropriate materials such as disinfectants, waxes, polishes, etc.
- Clean and sanitize drinking fountains.
- Remove leaves from outdoor storm drain.
Supervision:- Work collaboratively to hire, train and evaluate student employees. Provide direct supervision to ensure work assignments are performed correctly and safely.
- Provide necessary equipment, instructions and support for student to complete duties without supervision.
- Ensure that student employees know the mission and goals of the University, Student Engagement, Enrollment and Marketing, and Union and Involvement Services.
- Ensure that student employees demonstrate excellent service for internal and external customers.
- Serve as an advocate for students and their needs.
- Other related duties as assigned by the supervisors.

- Work alternative shifts if needed/necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.
- Must be able to communicate by telephone or two-way radio on a daily basis.
- Must be able to operate computers, complex cleaning machines, etc.
- Must be able to handle multiple and complex tasks simultaneously.
- Must be able to communicate through direct contact on a daily basis.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions.
- Must be able to work with university hardware and software as needed.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position.
- Basic knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work and room set ups.
- Ability to perform work involving regular physical activity, observe safety requirements, and adhere to safe work practices and methods (examples, include by are not limited to: climbing steps or ladders, shoveling snow, moving furniture, operate heavy power-driven cleaning equipment, etc.)
- Working knowledge of computers and technology.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety.
- Ability to operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative work relationships.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Position may require the ability to safely move up to 50-75 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of full-time professional work experience.
- Prior experience working in building maintenance and/or custodial field.
- Supervisory experience including but not limited to: training and managing employees, ability to provide clear directions and respond accordingly to employees, implement strategies to build a successful team, and mentoring.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to represent and support departmental initiatives across campus and with community partners.
- Familiarity with EMS Software or comparable space request software.
