Job Opportunity: Associate Broker at Brown & Brown

Brown & Brown is seeking an Associate Broker to join our growing team in Morristown, NJ!

The Associate Broker works directly with an established broker under the general supervision of the operations leader & PCL. The primary duties include reviewing insurance submissions & applications to evaluate, qualify & market insurance for individuals and groups.

How You Will Contribute:
  1. Evaluate risk by examining applications, inspection reports, loss runs, insurance maps, and financials, considering factors such as ISO classifications, property condition, and applicant history.
  2. Review company records to assess insurance coverage levels and potential for losses due to catastrophes or over-insurance.
  3. Manage brokered risks by ensuring complete and accurate documentation, issuing policies promptly, and handling filings and tax compliance per state regulations.
  4. Analyze and qualify new and renewal submissions, issue quotes and binders, and use inspections or underwriting guidelines as needed.
  5. Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and brokers to effectively place business and expand the book of business.
  6. Meet with retail agency partners to market services, foster relationships, and generate new business opportunities.
  7. Understand and utilize available company facilities and take ownership of quote-to-bind activity and overall production performance.
  8. Retain and grow existing business while remaining responsive to shifting priorities and market opportunities.
  9. Train and mentor processors and assistants, ensuring submission accuracy and fostering brokering skills development.
  10. Collaborate across departments, especially with binding/contract underwriting teams, and consult Branch Leaders on complex or non-standard coverage.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • P&C State licensed.
Skills & Experience to Be Successful:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is desired, or five years of insurance experience, including two years as an underwriting assistant.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Exceptional telephone demeanor.
  • Experience with excess and surplus lines underwriting agency or company.
Pay Range:

$60,000 - $65,000 annually. The pay range is based on experience, geography, and other factors.
