Position Summary

The Binding Operations Coordinator is responsible for the binding process of insurance policies, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory standards. The role includes inputting necessary information into underwriting applications for accurate policy rating, documentation, and issuance. They act as a liaison between underwriters and brokers, responding to inquiries, collecting information for quoting, and providing revised quotes. They also serve as backup for underwriters and underwriting assistants during their absence.

What will your job entail?

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in binding insurance policies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulations.
  2. Manage underwriting applications for proper rating, documentation, and policy issuance.
  3. Support new business submissions under the guidance of the Binding Underwriter for carrier marketing.
  4. Coordinate with underwriters and brokers, respond to inquiries, and provide revised quotes as needed.
  5. Process and issue policy endorsements, track cancellations, non-renewals, and renewals.
  6. Maintain organized records of all binding transactions and related documentation.
  7. Communicate with clients to gather information, explain policy terms, and address questions.
  8. Perform tasks assigned by underwriters and assistants during their absence.
  9. Prepare reports on binding metrics, performance, and compliance for process improvements.

Work Experience:

Minimum 1 year in Insurance, Binding Underwriting, or related field.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in Business Administration, Business Operations, or Sales. Equivalent work experience considered.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Required: State P&C and/or surplus line licenses.
  • Preferred: Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC).
