Job summary

Jeff Bank’s Monticello branch seeks an Assistant Branch Manager to deliver superior banking services, maintain high customer satisfaction, and support growth in a complex retail environment. The role requires deep product knowledge, aggressive cross-selling, and the ability to train staff and manage operations.

The incumbent will ensure compliance, process transactions, and contribute to branch success with a focus on service quality.

Qualifications

  • Education/Training: A B.S. or B.A. degree in related field preferred.
  • Analytical and communication skills; ability to operate office equipment; notary license and driver's license required.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in retail/banking or related field; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates core values and guiding principles; supports the Bank's mission and strategic plan.

  • Expand the customer base through cross-selling deposits and loans; promote electronic banking and increase ATM transactions.
  • Promote electronic banking and increase ATM transaction volume.

  • Provide excellent customer service and timely follow-up to resolve inquiries.
  • Develop in-depth product knowledge; refer inquiries to appropriate specialists.
  • Process financial transactions accurately; handle deposits, checks, and customer questions.
  • Provide consumer loan services: evaluate applications and approve loans per policy.
  • Assist in training and supervision of staff; may act as branch manager.
  • Adhere to internal policies and risk management requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain annual NMLS registration under SAFE Act.

Assistant Branch Manager

General Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for providing superior banking services to customers in a professional, efficient manner, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and service quality in a complex retail environment not traditionally nor primarily associated with the sale of banking services. Through in-depth product knowledge, provides customers with a clear understanding of the technical aspects and benefits of Jeff Bank consumer products and services. Aggressively sells and facilitates the cross sale of all Jeff Bank products and services. Works independently and proactively to increase business activity and expand Jeff Bank customer base through successful selling and prospecting techniques, contributing to the achievement of overall office growth goals. Asset size of location $25,000,000. & up.

Essential Duties
  1. 1. Demonstrates core values and guiding principles as outlined in the Bank's Mission, Vision and Value Statements of which the following are illustrative:
    • a. Gives exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers by providing prompt, polite and effective communication.
    • b. Participates as a member of the team.
    • c. Positively and proactively contributes to the Bank's Strategic Plan.
    • d. Demonstrates support of Management.
  2. 2. Ensures that all activities and work functions adhere to compliance requirements as are defined in company policies and procedures as well as state/federal laws and regulations.
  3. 3. Expand the customer base through a technical knowledge of retail services, products, and the use of effective selling techniques. Cross-sell all products and services, deposit and loan products to achieve desired growth and profitability.
  4. 4. Promote electronic banking products and services in order to increase transaction volume of ATM.
  5. 5. Achieve assigned product sales and service quality goals, contributing to the achievement of goals for overall office growth.
  6. 6. Provide excellent customer service, following up on resolving inquiries in a timely and complete manner, to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
  7. 7. Develop and maintain an in-depth product knowledge of all consumer products and services as a basis for effective selling. Refer customer product inquiries to the appropriate specialists and departments as needed.
  8. 8. Process all financial transactions in a timely, accurate manner. Provide customer deposit services such as opening accounts, approving checks for cashing and answering questions concerning accounts, loans, statements, etc., making referrals as necessary. Process teller transactions, such as the acceptance of payments and deposits.
  9. 9. Provides consumer loan services to customers of the Credit Services as follows:
    • a. Obtains reviews and analyzes applications and financial information.
    • b. Approves loans based on credit policy limits.
  10. 10. May assist in the training and supervision of staff. Can act in the capacity of branch manager.
  11. 11. Cooperates with, participates in and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the bank’s compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc., including but not limited to BSA and AML (awareness when processing cash deposits, sale of monetary instruments, structured deposits, and incoming and outgoing wires), insuring that the department and all personnel adhere to the same.
  12. 12. Obtains and maintains annually registration with the National Mortgage and Licensing System and Registry as required under the provisions of the SAFE Act.

Position Requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training: A B.S. or B.A. degree in related field of study preferred, advanced training in banking specific courses.

Skill(s): Interpretive reasoning ability, analytical skills, advanced communication skills, access equipment at various levels, support oneself in an erect position, ability to push, pull lift heavy/large objects (coin bags), move small objects precisely, perform substantial repetitive motions, possess visual acuity for close to long distances, hear with a high level of background noise, exhibit complex proficiency with limited supervision, demonstrate control, planning, and creativity, deal with people, influence others, work precisely, respond to variety and change, and have demonstrated problem solving capabilities. Above average technical skills (ATM, computer, and office machines), a valid driver’s license and notary license required.

Experience: 3 - 5 years of prior related experience in a retail/banking environment or a Bachelor degree with related experience. Ability to work independently.
