Job summary

American Eagle Financial Credit Union is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager in East Hartford, CT. You will lead the branch team, nurture key member relationships, and drive services that reflect our mission of financial wellbeing for members and the community.

You’ll coach colleagues, manage daily operations, and partner with leadership to deliver exceptional member experiences while growing the branch’s presence in the community. This role emphasizes service, teamwork, and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years in a leadership role.
  • Associate's degree preferred or required depending on qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Grow Membership and deepen relationships with members.
  • Take a consultative approach with each member to deliver solutions and coach teammates.
  • Engage in active listening during member interactions to understand needs and provide thoughtful responses.
  • Leverage digital tools to enhance member engagement and provide easy access to online and mobile platforms.
  • Support and participate in business development activities such as bank-at-work and financial literacy events.
  • Foster an environment of continuous growth and development for the team.
  • Provide coaching sessions to help team members with development goals and career planning.
  • Promote a culture of innovation by encouraging new ideas and value-added solutions for members.
  • Represent AEFCU at civic organizations, networking groups, and community events for visibility and impact.

The Opportunity

As an Assistant Branch Manager, you’ll play a key role in leading our branch and supporting our team. Your focus will go beyond daily operations, creating an environment where team members feel supported, inspired, and empowered to grow. Through clear communication and authentic leadership, you’ll help your team deliver exceptional member experiences while strengthening our branch’s role as a trusted partner in the community.

Location

East Hartford

Hours

Fulltime between the hours of 8-5:00pm and Saturdays 8-12:30pm

Compensation

$27-$30 an hour (depending on experience, education, aptitude, & equity)

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement a variety of coaching sessions with team members where they can provide input on their development needs and receive actionable guidance on how to achieve their career goals.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and creativity by empowering team members to propose new ideas, and solutions that add value to the credit union and its members.
  • Encourage participation in a job shadow program and other learning opportunities at the credit union.
  • Community Engagement: represent the credit union at civic organizations, networking groups, and community events to promote positive engagement.
  • Seek out community outreach initiatives, sponsorships, and events to increase branch visibility and support community development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local leaders to foster partnerships and enhance the credit union’s impact on the community.
Education And/or Experience

While this level of expertise will generally be attained with a minimum of two years in a previous leadership role and an associate’s degree, priority will be placed upon the demonstration of the ability to meet qualifications without an absolute focus on duration of experience, in recognition that the attainment of such qualifications may be obtained at different paces by different individuals.
