Job summary

Spotsylvania High School is seeking an Assistant Athletic Coach for Boys Wrestling to help develop a competitive program aligned with district goals. The role emphasizes teamwork, leadership, character, and athletic skill development among student-athletes.

Responsibilities include assisting the Head Coach, managing equipment, coordinating team operations, ensuring medical clearances, and supporting recruitment and training for staff roles.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 18 years of age
• One year of coaching experience in the sport assigned
• CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to enroll and complete a CPR and First Aid training course

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintaining high academic standards for all student-athletes
• Works cooperatively with the Head Athletic Coach(es) in order to operate a well-balanced athletic program
• Serves as a positive influence upon the behavior of members of his/her athletic staff and teams
• Engages and directs the team at all varsity events to be present at as many junior varsity and freshman contests as possible; supports the supervision of athletes at invitational meets or postseason competitions
• Manages the inventory of sports equipment and care of supplies; recommends new or replacement equipment when necessary
• Supports the organization of a system for encouraging students to try out for his/her team and to develop and recruit equipment manager(s), scorekeepers, statisticians, ball runners, etc., for all teams
• Ensures that all athletes have undergone and passed medical examinations before the regular practice season begins
• Collects and maintains file records, statistics, new items, and photographs for all the athletic teams under his/her supervision
• Observes sub-varsity practices and games, as required
