Job summary

YAI seeks an Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialist (ABIS) to support our Queens locations. The role blends DSP duties with behavioral support, educating team members on treatment plans, assisting with assessments, and ensuring accurate data collection.

You will train staff, role model person-centered care, develop habilitative plans, conduct behavioral assessments, monitor progress, and maintain required paperwork. The schedule is Sun-Thu 3 pm – 11 pm, full-time.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Psychology or Human Services strongly preferred or enrolled in 4-year program.
• At least one year of experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
• Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Willing to take initiative and be highly flexible.
• Proficient in computers; ability to teach others.
• Excellent college-level writing ability.
• Demonstrated leadership and clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care services and implement treatment plans.
• Train staff on behavioral interventions and data collection; provide feedback.
• Role model person-centered care and use of person-centered tools.
• Develop individualized habilitative plans and conduct assessments.
• Design data collection systems and monitor monthly progress.
• Complete all required paperwork and ensure information accuracy.
• Provide appropriate supervision to ensure health and safety.
• Train new staff on Level 1 competencies.
• Support staff in absence of BIS/Supervisor.
• Lead weekend training on clinical interventions.
