Job summary

Bay College in Escanaba is seeking an Assistant Baseball Coach to assist with coaching, recruiting, and program activities for the Norse baseball program. The role requires adhering to Bay College and NJCAA regulations and a commitment to student-athlete success.

The position supports practice planning, game preparation, and community engagement while working under the Head Coach and Athletic Director. A minimum of three years coaching experience and a valid Michigan driver’s license are

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years High School or Collegiate playing or coaching experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the sports program.
• Strong interpersonal, communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to lead and guide student‑athletes.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
• Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
• Ability to adapt to change in processes and procedures.
• Enthusiastic, people oriented, a winning attitude.

Responsibilities

• Teach sport skills, condition and motivate student‑athletes to positive action and utilize effective strategies to produce a successful student experience.
• Assist with recruitment of a sufficient number of new student‑athletes annually and retain current student‑athletes, in accordance with NJCAA rules and regulations, through scouting, attending games/tournaments, and home visits.
• Assist in planning, preparation and administration of practice plans and competition strategy plans.
• Assist with all aspects, areas, and components of the Norse baseball program.
• Represent the sports program to various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the community.
• Support the vision/mission of Bay College by providing student success, culture of success and community success.
• Support all college efforts for student completion.
