Job summary

Bay College in Escanaba, MI is seeking a part-time Assistant Baseball Coach to support coaching, recruiting, and program operations under NJCAA guidelines. The role reports to the athletics leadership and fits a 0.15 FTE schedule.

The position requires three years of playing or coaching experience, strong communication, and a Michigan driver’s license. Responsibilities include planning practices, mentoring student-athletes, and coordinating game-day activities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Teach sport skills, condition and motivate student-athletes to positive action and utilize effective strategies to produce a successful student experience.
  • Assist with recruitment of a sufficient number of new student-athletes annually and retain current student-athletes, in accordance with NJCAA rules and regulations, through scouting, attending games/tournaments, and home visits.
  • Assist in planning, preparation and administration of practice plans and competition strategy plans.
  • Assist with all aspects, areas, and components of the Norse baseball program.
  • Represents the sports program to various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the community.
  • Support the vision/mission of Bay College by providing student success, culture of success and community success.
  • Support all college efforts for student completion.

Summary

Full-time/Part-time Part-Time Position Type Staff Job Summary/Basic Function

The Assistant Baseball Coach is responsible for assisting with coaching and recruiting, instructing, and coordinating various program related activities. The Assistant Baseball Coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Bay College and the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior higher education recruiting experience
  • Knowledge of athletic recruitment, methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA regulations and guidelines governing recruitment and retention of student athletes.
