POSITION: Assistant Baseball Coach
FLSA STATUS: Stipend Coach
REPORTS TO: Sean Batti, Head Baseball Coach and Genevieve Atwood

Loyola Academy is currently seeking an Assistant Baseball Coach for the 202 7 season, beginning March 1 , 202 7 . The Assistant Baseball Coach shall have the primary responsibilities to mentor, coach and develop high school Athletes. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the baseball coach will foster a team environment amongst the athletic community at Loyola.

Job Requirements / Essential Functions:

The Asst Baseball coach will help with the execution of campus wide events and initiatives that align diversity, equity and inclusion with the school's Catholic identity, mission, Ignatian Spirituality, and the school's commitments to celebrate, educate and advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. A successful candidate for the position should be able to collaborate, partner and communicate well with faculty, staff, students and community members.

  • Emphasize the values of leadership, sportsmanship and goodness, values that lie at the core of the athletic program here at Loyola Academy.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Have previous successful club, high school or college coaching experience. Organized, hard-working and demonstrates a strong desire to develop young players. Coach will be focused on player development, implementing practice plans and other necessaryfunctions of the program.
  • Ability to coach athletes of varying abilities and assist them in developing the fundamental skills necessary to be a successful and competitive high school baseball player.
  • Ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.
  • Travel with the team on the bus to away contests.
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage others in difficult conversations and manage conflict.
  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information, protect the assets of the institution, act ethically and with integrity, adhere to the administrative and operational policies of Loyola Academy and perform the duties of your position consistent with those policies and the institution's expectations.
  • Commitment to the principles of Jesuit education as outlined in Loyola Academy's mission statement.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling equipment of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Qualifications

The position requires a bachelor degree, one to three (1-3) plus years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Previous work at Loyola Academy is preferred.

All coaches will be required to complete ASEP or NFHS certificate and keep up with IHSA compliance requirements.

  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends.

Pre-Employment screening is required: criminal background check and drug testing.
